Maths Homework

Our use of White Rose is supplemented through a variety of resources including Numbots to help secure number bond knowledge in Key Stage 1 and Times Tables Rockstars to reinforce Times Tables fluency in Key Stage 2.

Our homework expectation is children will access the relevant programme each night to practise their number bonds or times tables.

St Christopher’s!

St Christopher’s celebrated 'World Maths Day' by holding a ‘Robot Rockstars’ day. The day was based around our use of Times Tables Rock Stars and Numbots with the aim of getting the children to see the fun side of maths after a long learning break for some. Alongside their teachers, Early Years and Key Stage 1 children dressed up as robots and took part in fun number bond themed activities such as building their robot avatars from Numbots and going on a robot number bond hunt around the playground. Key Stage 2 children and their teachers dressed up as Rockstars and created their own codebreakers with Rockstars emojis, went on a Rockstars times table around the playground and created Rockstars silhouettes out of calculations involving all four operations.

Coronavirus didn’t stop us showing off our amazing costumes in a whole school assembly via Zoom. Each class also had a time slot to visit the Robot Rockstars photo booth and the estimation station where they got to estimate how many sweets they thought were in a jar as well as estimate the weight of some of the pumpkins from our Country Trust growing area.

Even with regular cleaning and social distancing, the day was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by both children and staff proving that maths really is rock ‘n’ roll!
